Frequently asked questions

Why can't I see anyone on the radar?

at aura only shows people within Bluetooth range (same room, roughly 10–30 metres) who have the app open and share at least one interest field with you. Check: is Bluetooth on (in Settings, not just Control Centre)? Is the app in the foreground? Give discovery 15–30 seconds. And: the more people around you have the app, the more your radar shows — spread the word.

Does the app need the internet?

No. Everything runs directly between devices over Bluetooth. There is no server.

How does a match work?

Wave to a person on the radar. If they wave back, it's a match and you can chat — end-to-end encrypted, straight from device to device.

Why isn't my message being delivered?

Messages are delivered directly over Bluetooth. If the other person is out of range or has the app closed, the message stays “pending” (clock icon) and is delivered automatically as soon as you're near each other again.

How do I block or report someone?

In the chat, tap the ⋯ menu in the top right → “Report person” or “Block person”. Blocking takes effect immediately: the person is no longer shown to you and their messages can't reach you while the block is in place. The chat history isn't deleted but archived locally — as possible evidence for a report. Under Profile → Community & Safety you can view the archived history (read-only), report the person, delete the history for good, or lift the block. Once lifted, the chat returns; messages the person wrote during the block can then be delivered retroactively. Reports reach us by email (with a report code, without chat contents) and are reviewed promptly.

Can someone track me through the app?

Persistent tracking through the app isn't possible: your device only broadcasts a random identifier that changes every 10 minutes. Your name, your interests in plain text, or your location are never broadcast. With the “Visible to others” switch in your profile you can turn broadcasting off entirely at any time.

How do I delete my data?

Profile → “Delete all data” irreversibly removes your profile, matches, chats and images from your device. Since there is no server, no copies exist anywhere afterwards.

What is a spot code?

Organisers (e.g. an event or a campsite) can post signed QR codes. After you scan one and give your explicit consent, time-limited extra interests appear, through which you can find people at the same place even better. Once they expire, everything disappears without a trace.
